MCS Speaker Series - Privacy and Social Data

I am excited to announce our upcoming MCS Speaker Series for this winter on Thursday, January 16th 4:30-5:15pm.

Professor Johan Ugander, Management Science & Engineering, will be giving the talk. Flyer attached.

Title: Privacy and Social Data

Social data -- the information that relates an individual to other individuals through online social networks or other social interactions -- is at once an extremely powerful input for modern inferences about human behavior and also poses a serious headache when trying to design platforms and systems that respect user privacy. I will discuss challenges at the forefront of this research area that may be of interest to current and prospective MCS students.
