About our guest:
Michelle Littlefield is the Founder and Chief Analytics Advisor of Esperto Analytics, a consulting firm specializing in data strategy, advanced analytics, and business intelligence for social impact organizations, startups, and government agencies.
Before founding Esperto Analytics, Michelle held various analytics leadership roles, including serving as Chief Data Officer for the City & County of San Francisco. In this capacity, she led data modernization initiatives to support an organization of 35,000+ staff across 62 agencies, advancing the City’s data science capabilities and interagency data collaboration. Her work directly contributed to addressing the City’s top priorities including affordable housing, economic recovery, homelessness, and the opioid crisis. Michelle also served on San Francisco’s Privacy and Surveillance Advisory Board, where she evaluated AI-enabled technology implementations to assess privacy risk and ensure the ethical use of data, balancing transparency with protecting individual civil liberties.
Michelle’s previous roles also include Data & Analytics Manager for the San Francisco Planning Department, where she expanded 3D geospatial technology capabilities to improve scenario planning for the future buildout of the City. She also served as Digital Services & Analytics Program Lead for the City of Redwood City and Co-Founder of the Code for America Brigade of San Mateo County, which served 21 cities and towns along the San Francisco Peninsula. With a focus on the intersection of public policy, technology, and urban informatics, Michelle is passionate about building the cities of the future through connected urban systems, outcomes-based policy development, and improving societal health.
