Stanford University

Important Announcement: The MCS program stopped accepting new majors and minors on September 1, 2022. All students currently enrolled in the MCS major or minor will be able to complete these degree programs. Starting on September 1, 2022, students interested in Mathematical & Computational Science should explore the opportunities in the new Data Science program. The Data Science B.S. has requirements very similar to those of MCS.

Faculty Advisors

Faculty advisors are assigned after a student declares MCS to serve as intellectual mentors. Students are asked to meet at least once after they declare with their faculty advisor to discuss their academic goals and to discuss and refine their course of study. Students may also meet with faculty advisors to help them determine what field or topic of research they should look into and possibly help them find research opportunities on campus.
